The Many Projects of WCCR
Since its inception in 1940, the WCCR has been involved in social outreach activities. During the early years these were inspired by the times and were decided on by the Club’s leaders as certain needs in the community came to their attention. In the 1980’s, specific WCCR Committees were created to coordinate these activities.
Today there are several Community Service programs, each with a separate committee to coordinate its activities. Committees recommend specific contributions to the Board of Directors which, in turn, studies the proposals brought forth for approval.
Assistance is directed to those in greatest need. University grants are given directly to students; the Schoolbooks For Kids Program combines giving the books directly to the students or delivering them through local newspaper La Nación’s Libros Para Todos Social Responsibility initiative.
