Paying it Forward
At our March meeting Laurel Anderson, a 37 year resident of Costa Rica, shared her insights about using social responsibility in marketing.
“Giving back is important,” Laurel stated, “but sharing how and who you give to helps the recipient organization, the client who uses your product or service by exposing that organization, and it helps your company as it becomes a part of your story. It’s a win, win, win situation.”
Laurel shared how a “bad” story can affect a company’s reputation, and therefore its sales, such as the use of child labor from Hershey’s chocolate. She also shared a “good” story about the El Angel Company in Costa Rica and how they supported its 300 employees after an earthquake devastated the factory.
“I learned the important thing is to be excited about whatever charity I choose to participate in. This helps to be enthusiastic when sharing with others.” said one attendee.
