About the Program
In January, 2010, the WCCR began a comprehensive scholarship program to help first year university students, who were recipients of scholarships in the Club’s High School Program. We gave scholarships of ¢40,000 colones per month during the school year to 28 excellent students. Our students lived and studied in all corners of the country from Nicoya to Pérez Zeledón. Spanish speaking Committee members supervised and encouraged the students. The “madrinas” met the students early in the year and remained in touch by telephone and e-mail. In 2011, we will give scholarships to fourteen graduating high school students and continue aiding fourteen second-year University students that received our scholarship in 2010.
